Offshore Surveys Limited (OSL) is a Trinidad and Tobago-based marine and terrestrial survey company delivering in-depth survey solutions across the Caribbean and the Americas. Our services span hydrographic and geophysical surveys, subsea positioning, terrestrial surveys and precision measurement to name a few.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a competent and motivated Surveyor I to join our growing team. This is a full-time position combining shore-based office work with field deployments as required. Project assignments may be onshore or offshore, locally or internationally, with durations and rotations determined by project requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting Lead Surveyors in the execution of offshore, nearshore and coastal survey projects.
Participating in vessel mobilisation and installation of marine survey, geophysical, acoustic and environmental sensor systems.
Conducting and participating in calibrations and verifications of specialised hydrographic survey systems.
Serving as shift lead for data acquisition operations.
Maintaining survey hardware and software in good working order.
Implementing project-specific procedures, quality control checks and data management workflows.
Direct involvement in data processing, charting and preparation of technical documentation in support of final deliverables.
Adherence to OSL's HSSE policies, participation in risk assessments, toolbox talks and behaviour-based safety observation programs.
Encouraging HSSE awareness among less experienced staff.
WHAT YOU BRING
Minimum Qualifications: BSc in Geomatics/Surveying and Land Information and/or IHO Category B certification
Minimum Experience: 3–5 years in a relevant survey discipline
Technical competencies:
Proficiency in data acquisition for hydrographic and offshore survey project types.
Working knowledge of hydrographic and positioning survey sensor installation, calibration and operation.
Familiarity with hydrographic online data acquisition and offline processing software.
Strong fault-finding and data quality control skills.
Good working knowledge of surface and subsea positioning theory and practice.
Offshore and vessel operations awareness.
Working knowledge of IT and electronics in support of survey systems.
Foundational understanding of geophysical survey sensors and operations.
